Decided to give this its own topic, since its basically the only thing that's been discussed when people have come to the board, and it could do with something more solid rather than casual discussion. So, prepare for some walks of text to get things started.
Scanning through the topic, there's been about six guys who have said "Yeah, I'd do one more show". Checking the last show, we had about five matches on there. I think if we can do more than that with this show, we should go for it, so we'd need at least 10 people willing to be in matches (I have a plan for another match). That seems feasible to me.
So here I'll answer a few of the bigger questions (and a few smaller ones) that usually crop up when this topic got brought up before.
Would it stay active?
I think so. If we start planning now and booking the card, people can already work on promos and matches. Plus we've got the luxury of not needing to plan for a show afterwards and keeping momentum going. I think the show should happen April 10th. Its just over two weeks away, and is also a week after Wrestlemania, which is usually when wrestling fever hits most lasped fans. The show would have a soft deadline of two weeks to keep a sense of urgency and to stop the show getting caught in delays, although obviously that can be stretched a couple more days if needs be. If someone booked their match today, they've got four weeks to write it up, which anyone who was a member here should be able to pull off.
I think we'd need to set some rules about pacing: Sometimes with big PPVs you see a rush of promos and completed matches in the first few days, nothing for the entire middle, then another rush to finish it off. Encourage people to wait until the show slows down a little before adding their own bit, and ensuring there is space between each match. It'll also have the benefit of letting more people read what's been posted. If worst comes to worst and the show freezes, we can post highlights from the archives until things pick back up.
How would it be booked?
In truest FHT/ELITE style, I think it should be user-orientated. I'd suggest if you're interested in being on the card but have no opponent set up,
I'm interested, but don't have the time/only have time to write a promo.
I've got two answers to that one. Firstly, try and find someone willing to write the match themselves. I'd say in that situation you should at least try to promo, but that would obviously be a discussion between you and your feud opponent. The other solution is the match I was hinting about earlier. I suggest we run another Daddy Rumble. It'll be written in semi-quick results style (Find the Daddy Rumble that happened on that one Legacy for the idea), and feature secondary characters and various faces from FHT, ELITE and FHT/ELITE's history, be those jobbers, NPCs or other posters too busy to be involved in their own matches.
Would this lead to a full return?
If the show does amazingly, stupidly well, then I think it warrants a little discussion, but I wouldn't hold out much hope on a full return. I think if it does go well, we could hold further annual or even bi-annual reunion shows to help keep the board somewhat active and keep in touch. We should focus on making this a success first though before discussing any future plans.
What if this doesn't go well?
Hopefully with the plans in place and with some effort, it'll go smoothly. The more faces we've got hanging around as well, the better. I do think though there is understandable concern that this show might tank and FHT/ELITE will lose its place as an e-fed that did manage to kinda end under its own power. If we're getting close to the show's start date of April 10th and its generally felt we're not prepared, it won't happen. Anything written for it before then will either be put on hold if we decide to delay, or posted on FHT-ELITE.com as a Hardcore Homecoming-esque unofficial tribute show. I do think its worth the risk and effort though to attempt this, and we should give it a real shot.
How will I build to my matches?
My suggestion would be to work with someone you've got past history with that you can easily dig up and use. There's the Hardcore Title Thread if you wanna do some brawling pre-show with your opponent and also the internet board for pre-show promoing, plus probably at least a promo each on the show. Its not ideal, but I think we've got the talent to pull off interesting little stories from that, and we can't really do multiple shows as the risk of one of them failing would increase with each one.
Will champions be required to defend their titles?
Personally, I say no. Those who stuck around to the bitter end earned the right to be the last FHT/ELITE Champions, and it is totally their call if they want to defend those titles on the show.
Can I do this kind of promo or match?
The only kind of promo I'd say is out would be a full-on shoot. In-character bitterness or anger is fine (And in fact could be really interesting), as well as the odd funny shoot joke, but please don't come out and start causing drama on the show, or really, in OOC as well. The overall mood of this show should be one of celebration and respect, let's not open up old wounds from years ago.
As for match types, I'd say as long as someone isn't doing the same or a very similar type, go for it. I would suggest though that if you plan to do a multi-man match, you hold off a little until we've got an idea how many people and matches we have on the card. The six-way Torture Chamber match might be a really great match, but that could be three singles matches, which might turn out to be a large part of the card if attendance isn't massive.
Any name ideas?
The ones crossing my mind right now are FHT/ELITE The Last Stand, FHT/ELITE Encore or FHT/ELITE Wally Wilson Memorial Show. Obviously, if you have ideas or preferences, say so.
Phew. Sorry about all those words. Kudos if you read it all. For the tl;dr crowd, here's a quick summary of what kinda things we need to see and the important stuff:
- I'm suggesting the show happens APRIL 10TH, a week after Wrestlemania.
- Please post if you're interested in any capacity. If you want to be on the card, post your top three most wanted opponents and we can hopefully start pairing guys off. If you're too busy, there will be a Daddy Rumble you can have your character enter so they're still on the card.
- Any name ideas.
- Any feedback on what I've said, if you agree or disagree, and if you have your own ideas. Let's get some discussion going.
Hopefully one of the admins can send an email to everybody about this and we can see some old faces return. If you see anyone from FHT/ELITE online or anywhere, if you can bug them to return to the board and post here, that'll be very helpful. Thanks.
